Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours, with only C-class flares identified. A total of 9 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours. SIDC Sunspot Group 927 (NOAA Active Region 4498) with magnetic configuration Beta-Gamma is the largest region on disk and produced most of the flaring activity in the last 24 hours. SIDC Sunspot Group 929 (NOAA Active Region 4499) with magnetic configuration Beta-Gamma-Delta and SIDC Sunspot Group 930 (NOAA Active Region 4501) with magnetic configuration Beta-Gamma have both grown in size and magnetic complexity. The largest flare was a C3.8 flare (SIDC Flare 8297) peaking on July 30 at 06:06 UTC, which was produced by SIDC Sunspot Group 927. Solar flaring activity is expected to be moderate over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares expected and M-class flares likely.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the past 24 hours. A filament eruption was observed in SDO/AIA 304 at 20:40 UT on July 29, near the centre of the visible disk. The CME associated with this filament eruption is not expected to impact the Earth.
Slow solar wind conditions were recorded over the past 24 hours. The solar wind speed ranged between 320 km/s to 363 km/s. The total interplanetary magnetic field ranged from 2 to 4 nT, with the Bz reaching a minimum of -3 nT. The phi-angle was in the positive sector (directed away from the Sun) except for a period between 23:10 UT on July 29 and 06:10 UT on July 30. The solar wind conditions are expected to become enhanced in the next 24 hours, due to the possible arrival of high-speed streams associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 159.
The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled locally (K BEL 1-3) and quiet globally (Kp 1-2) in the last 24 hours. Active conditions are expected over the next 24 hours.
The greater than 10 MeV GOES proton flux was at background levels and is expected to remain at background levels over the next 24 hours.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by the GOES-18 satellites, was above the 1000 pfu threshold between 18:00 UTC and 23:255 UTC on July 29. The 2 MeV electron flux is expected to remain below the threshold during the next 24 hour. The 24-hour electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to remain at normal levels over the next 24 hours.
