Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours. There are currently 6 numbered regions on the disk. SIDC Sunspot Group 927 (NOAA Active Region 4498) is the most magnetically complex region on disk (Beta-Delta) but was stable. SIDC Sunspot group 933 (NOAA Active Region 4502) and SIDC Sunspot group 929 (NOAA Active Region 4499) grew over the period. The remaining regions were stable or in decay. Solar flaring activity is expected to be low over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares likely and isolated M-class flares possible.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the past 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours, the solar wind parameters reflected the ongoing ICME influence. The magnetic field strength reached a maximum of 21.5 nT at 14:27 UTC August 02. The magnetic field strength then decreased slowly to around 9 nT by the end of the period. The solar wind speed reached a maximum of 430 km/s and then gradually decreased to around 380 km/s. The solar wind conditions are expected to continue to reflect this waning CME influence over the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic conditions reached moderate storm conditions (NOAA KP 6-) between 15:00 and 18:00 UTC August 02. Locally conditions reached minor geomagnetic storm levels (K bel 5). Conditions then returned to unsettled to active conditions (NOAA Kp 4 and K Bel 3). Unsettled to active conditions are expected for the next 24 hours due to the ongoing ICME influence.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was below the 10 pfu threshold over the past 24 hours. It is expected to remain below this threshold level over the next 24 hours.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by GOES-18 and GOES-19, was below the 1000 pfu threshold. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be below this threshold over the next 24 hours. The electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to be at normal levels for the next 24 hours.
