Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours, with four C-class flares identified. The brightest was SIDC flare 8355, a C4 that peaked on 14 Aug at 21:55 UTC. It was emitted by SIDC Sunspot Group 941 (NOAA Active Region 4508, Beta magnetic configuration) that also produced the second brightest flare, SIDC flare 8361 (a C3 on 15 Aug at 08:18 UTC). More C-class flaring activity is expected in the next 24 hours, mostly from SIDC SG 941 and 939 (NOAA AR 4506, Beta magnetic configuration).
The SIDC Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) 707 can be seen in LASCO-C2 images as launched on 14 Aug at 7:12 UTC. It is associated with SIDC flare 8350 and the SIDC SG 936. A glancing blow is estimated to arrive on Earth the first half of 19 Aug. The SIDC CME 708 and 709 can seen in LASCO-C2 images as launched on 14 Aug at 11:12 and 17:48 UTC. They are back-sided events and are not expected to affect Earth.
The Solar Wind (SW) conditions of the past 24 hours featured a typical slow SW regime. The SW speed ranged between 330 and 380 km/s, the interplanetary magnetic field (B) varied between 2 and 7 nT, and its North- South component (Bz) registered values from -6 to 4 nT. Similar conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.
The geomagnetic conditions of the past 24 hours were at quiet levels globally (NOAA Kp 0+ to 2+) and up to unsettled levels locally (K BEL 1 to 3). In the next 24 hours they are expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels both globally and locally.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux, as measured by the GOES-19 satellite, was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is likely to remain so in the next 24 hours.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by GOES 19, was below the 1000 pfu alert threshold for past 24 hours. It is expected to remain at the same levels in the next 24 hours. The electron fluence was at normal levels in the past 24 hours and it is expected to remain at the same levels in the next 24 hours.
