Zonnevlekkengebieden en zonnevlammen

Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours, with only C-class flares identified. A total of 7 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours, all of them having alpha or beta magnetic configuration. The largest flare was a C1.6 flare (SIDC Flare 8558) peaking on September 10 at 17:12 UTC, which was produced by SIDC Sunspot Group 958 (NOAA Active Region 4530). Most of the C-class flaring was produced by SIDC Sunspot Group 958 (NOAA Active Region 4530). Solar flaring activity is expected to be low over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares very likely and a chance for M-class flares.

Coronale massa uitstoten

No new earth directed CME have been observed in the available images. A partial halo Coronal Mass Ejection, SIDC CME 719, was first seen in SOHO/LASCO C2 around 20:06 UTC on September 10. In the plane of the sky, the CME appeared mainly nordwestward directed and slow, with an estimated plane-of-sky speed of about 426 km/s and an angular width of about 124 degrees. The most likely source was the filament eruption located near 84N/65W. Due to its source location and propagation direction, no Earth- directed component is expected.

Coronale gaten

A long east-westwards elongated mid latitude negative polarity coronal hole (SIDC CH 149) started crossing central meridian since September 10 16:00 UTC. The associated high-speed stream may enhance the solar wind conditions near Earth around September 13.

Zonnewind

Solar wind conditions near Earth were slow over the past 24 hours, with the solar wind speed around 450 km/s, the interplanetary magnetic field around 4 nT, and the minimum Bz reaching about -3 nT. Solar wind conditions might become enhanced following the possible High Speed Stream arrival associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 180 expected on September 11. Enhanced solar wind conditions are possible from around September 13 following the possible High Speed Stream arrival associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 149.

Geomagnetisme

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled globally, with NOAA Kp reaching 3, and quiet locally, with K BEL reaching 2, over the past 24 hours. Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected over the next 24 hours. Enhanced geomagnetic conditions are possible from around September 13 due to the possible arrival of the high-speed stream associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 149 which may lead to active conditions, with K values possibly reaching 4.

Proton flux niveaus

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained below the 10 pfu threshold and is expected to remain so over the next days.

Elektronenfluxen in geostationaire baan

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was above the 1000 pfu alert threshold during the reporting period still in response to the high solar wind speed associated with the Coronal Hole (SIDC CH 179). The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to remain above the 1000 pfu threshold for the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at moderate levels and is expected to remain at moderate levels in the next 24 hours.
