Zonnevlekkengebieden en zonnevlammen

Solar flaring activity was very low over the past 24 hours. The X-ray flux was below C level. The largest flare was a B8.5 flare (SIDC Flare 8567) peaking on September 11 at 23:14 UTC, which was produced by SIDC Sunspot Group 952 (NOAA Active Region 4521). A total of 7 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours, all having alpha or beta magnetic configuration. SIDC Sunspot Group 952 (NOAA Active Region 4521) currently located at N09W84, was the most active region of the past 24 hours, producing the majority of the C-class flaring. Solar flaring activity is expected to be low over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares very likely and a chance for M-class flares.

Coronale massa uitstoten

No new Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraph images.

Coronale gaten

The long east-westwards elongated southern mid latitude negative polarity coronal hole (SIDC CH 149) continues its crossing of the central meridian. The associated high-speed stream may enhance the solar wind conditions near Earth around September 13. The northern mid latitude negative polarity coronal hole (SIDC CH 142) started its crossing of the central meridian. The associated high-speed stream may enhance the solar wind conditions near Earth around September 15.

Zonnewind

Solar wind conditions near Earth were slow over the past 24 hours, with the solar wind speed around 400 km/s, the interplanetary magnetic field around 7 nT, and the minimum Bz reaching about -5 nT. Enhanced solar wind conditions are possible from around September 13 due to the possible arrival of the high-speed stream associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 149. Further enhanced solar wind conditions may be expected around September 15, following the possible arrival of the high-speed stream associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 142.

Geomagnetisme

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled globally and locally (NOAA Kp 3, K BEL 3), over the past 24 hours. Enhanced geomagnetic conditions are possible from around September 13 due to the possible arrival of the high-speed stream associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 149 which may lead to active conditions, with K values possibly reaching 4. Further enhanced geomagnetic conditions may be expected around September 15, following the possible arrival of the high-speed stream associated with SIDC Coronal Hole 142, with K values possibly reaching 5 .

Proton flux niveaus

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained below the 10 pfu threshold. There is a very slight change of proton flux increasing above the 10MeV threshold, as the most active sunspot group (SIDC sunspot group 952) is close to the west limb.

Elektronenfluxen in geostationaire baan

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by GOES-18 and GOES-19, exceeded the 1000 pfu alert threshold at the beginning of the period, with GOES-19 remaining above the threshold until 23:00 UTC on September 11 and GOES-18 until 03:55 UTC on September 12. The flux remained mainly below the threshold for the rest of the period. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to increase again above the alert threshold over the next 24 hours. The 24-hour electron fluence was at moderate levels and is expected to remain at normal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.
