A total of 6 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours. Solar flaring activity was low over the past 24 hours, with minor C-class flares identified. The largest flare was a C1.4 flare (SIDC Flare 8581) peaking on September 13 at 19:45 UTC, which was produced by SIDC Sunspot Group 946 (NOAA Active Region 4528).
An faint CME was observed on 12 September at 19:36 UT in LASCO C2, directed mostly to the west and originating from SIDC Sunspot Group 946 (NOAA Active Regions 4528) and related to SIDC Flare 8581. There are low chances of an Earth arrival on 16 September.
SIDC Coronal Hole 149 is located at mid to high latitude in the sourthern hemisphere, with a negative polarity, it crossed the central meridian on 11 September. SIDC Coronal Hole 142 is at mid to high latitude in the northern hemisphere, it crossed central meridian on September 13.
A weak shock was detected in the L1 solar wind at 02:25 UT on 14 September. The origin is probably related to a CME leaving the Sun on 9 September. The interplanetary magnetic field jumped from 4 to 8 nT, the solar wind speed from 260 to 350 km/s and its density from 1 to 4 particles per cubic centimeter. The solar wind speed remained low after the shock, and it is around 330 kms at present, whereas the interplanetary magnetic field has shown some increase reaching 11 nT at 11:30 UT. The arrival of a high speed stream from SIDC Coronal Hole 149 is possible in the next 24 hours.
Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet both locally and at planetary levels (Kp and K_Bel up to 2). They are expected to remain quiet to unsettled with possible active periods in the next 24 hours.
The 10 MeV proton flux on GOES-18 has shown a slight increase in the last hours, starting around 04:00 UT, but it has not passed the threshold. The origin of this increase is under investigation.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by GOES-18 and GOES-19,were mainly slightly above the 1000 pfu alert threshold. Similar conditions can be expeccted for the next 24 hours. The 24-hour electron fluence was at moderate levels and is expected to remain at normal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.
