Solar flaring activity was very low over the past 24 hours. The X-ray flux was below C level. A total of 2 numbered sunspot groups were identified on the disk over the past 24 hours, as several sunspot groups rotated out of view over the west limb. Solar flaring activity is expected to be very low over the next 24 hours, with a chance for C-class flares.
No Earth directed CMEs were detected in the last 24 hours.
SIDC Coronal Hole 142 is at mid to high latitude in the northern hemisphere, it crossed central meridian on September 13.
Over the last 24 hours, the solar wind at Earth was influenced by the arrival of a high-speed stream (HSS) from SIDC Coronal Hole 142 (negative polarity), alongside a likely glancing blow from SIDC CME 721 (from 13 September). Although solar wind speeds spiked at 800 km/s (as measured by ACE, SOLAR-1, and IMAP), the interplanetary magnetic field remained at moderate levels (reaching 16 nT) with a mostly positive Bz. The solar wind speed is currently at 550 km/s with interplanetary magnetic field of 6 nT. In the next 24 hours, we may observe a continuation of disturbed conditions before going back to slow solar wind.
Geomagnetic conditions have reached active conditions at planetary levels and unsettled locally (Kp up to 4 and K_Bel up to 3) in the last 24 hours. Similar conditions with minor storm periods possible can be expected for the next 24 hours.
The proton flux on GOES-18 is at background levels.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux, as measured by GOES-18 and GOES-19, remained mostly below the 1000 pfu alert threshold over the past 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux may exceed the alert threshold over the next 24 hours.The 24-hour electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to remain at normal levels over the next 24 hours.
