There are presently eight numbered active regions observed at the visible side of the solar disc and four of them have beta configuration of the photospheric magnetic field. Solar flaring activity was during last 24 hours at the C-class level. Catania sunspot group 44 (NOAA AR 3423) has, during last 24 hours, strongly increased in the area, sunspot number and complexity of its photospheric magnetic field. Similar behavior was observed for Catania sunspot group 41 (NOAA AR 3421). We expect these two active regions to be source of majority of the flaring activity in the coming hours. We expect C-class but also an isolated M-class flares.
During last 24 hours there were no Earth directed CMEs detected in the available coronagraph data.
Earth is presently inside the slow solar wind with velocity of about 380 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 5 nT.
During last 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled, and we expect them to stay so in the comming hours. The solar wind, originating from the negative polarity coronal hole which crossed central meridian on September 03, can be expected at Earth later today.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at the background levels and we do not expect significant change in the coming hours. As the complex Catania sunspot group 41 (NOAA AR 3421) is approaching to the West solar limb, the strong flaring activity from this region in the coming days, could be associated with the particle event.
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux has continue to fluctuate around the 1000 pfu threshold. The 24h electron fluence is at normal level. We do not expect significant change in these parameters in the coming hours.
