I sure didn't expect this storm to be this strong but after seeing the data upon arrival i rushed to my usual observation spot a bit after 10 in the evening. Aurora was already clearly visible in the north with greens above the horizon and a reddish glow above that varied in strength. But that wasn't the most awesome part, suddenly green patsches and curtains started to appear from east to west accross the zenith, first time seeing proton aurora. It appeared very bright green with pulses if white coming through and it also moved, it felt like i was on a high latitude location with dancing auroras above. Definetly one of the best aurora experiences from my lower middle latitude location!
A lot of people come to SpaceWeatherLive to follow the Solar activity or if there is a chance to see the aurora, but with more traffic comes higher costs to keep the servers online. If you like SpaceWeatherLive and want to support the project you can choose a subscription for an ad-free site or consider a donation. With your help we can keep SpaceWeatherLive online!
